In 1996, the Lord spoke to Reverend Irving C. Anderson, Sr. and told him to begin a ministry. Although he heard God, like Moses, he tried to reason with God and tell him why he could not carry out the mission set before him. He was new to the area and did not know anyone. From his experience as an assistant pastor, he knew he did not want the responsibility that pastoring a church comes with. So, he pleaded for more time. Meanwhile, Reverend Anderson continued to fellowship with the saints at a local community church. One day, while dancing in the spirit, God spoke to him again and this time got his full attention. Reverend Anderson obediently surrendered to the Lord's will and Harvest Chapel Christian Fellowship was born.
The Harvest Chapel congregation began meeting in the kitchen of the Anderson's residence in May of 1997. God's hand was upon the Ministry, and the congregation soon outgrew their home. They relocated to a small building on Highway 40 in Kingsland, Georgia. Less than six months later, the ministry increased so rapidly that a small storefront had to be leased on South Lees Street on Highway 17. The location underwent major renovations, and Harvest Chapel resided in that location for a little more than three years. On November 17, 2001, ground breaking ceremonies were held and construction began at its present site on Henrietta Street. Through the sweat, labor and prayers of the congregation and by the God’s grace, Harvest Chapel held their first service on February 10th 2002 in what we refer to as Phase 1 of Harvest Chapel.
